Can I describe any background I want?
Yes. Describe a setting, color, mood, or reference scene in plain language — a studio backdrop, a location, a texture — instead of picking from a fixed list.
Will my subject stay exactly the same?
The instructions tell the model to preserve identity, pose, and lighting, but this is a semantic edit: pixels near the subject's edge can be reconstructed along with the new background, so compare the result with the original.
Does this work for product photos or only portraits?
Both. Describe the product or person and the scene you want behind them; the edit infers the subject type from the source image.
How is this different from removing the background entirely?
Removing a background leaves it empty, white, or transparent. This tool replaces it with a new described scene, so the subject ends up composited into fresh surroundings instead of isolated on its own.
